Microsoft 365 Copilot
Connect your Microsoft 365 tenant to Antenna to analyze Microsoft 365 Copilot adoption and usage across your organization, alongside your other AI tools.
This integration reads the Microsoft 365 Copilot usage report from Microsoft Graph. A Microsoft Entra administrator grants tenant-wide admin consent to Antenna’s Microsoft Entra application, and Antenna reads the report on a recurring schedule from then on. No credentials are created, entered, or stored.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have the following:
- A Microsoft Entra administrator account — Global Administrator or Privileged Role Administrator. Only these roles can grant tenant-wide admin consent.
- Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses assigned to users in your tenant.
- An Antenna Admin role in the enterprise you’re connecting.
The report covers users who hold a Microsoft 365 Copilot license. Copilot Chat usage by unlicensed users is not included, because Microsoft does not expose it through this API.
Setup
Show user names in reports
Microsoft 365 conceals user names in usage reports by default. While names are concealed, every row in the Copilot report arrives with an opaque identifier instead of a user principal name, so Copilot users appear in Antenna as hashed IDs that cannot be matched to people, teams, or managers.
To show names, a Microsoft 365 administrator:
- Opens Settings > Org settings > Reports in the Microsoft 365 admin center.
- Clears Display concealed user, group, and site names in all reports.
- Saves the change.
Names appear from the next report refresh, roughly 48 hours later. Rows Antenna has already collected stay hashed.
There is no API that works around this setting. The report returns a pseudonymous identifier rather than a user principal name, so there is no value to match against your directory, and the setting applies tenant-wide to all Microsoft 365 usage reports rather than to Copilot alone. A tenant that leaves it enabled gets organization-wide totals only — no per-person attribution, and no team, manager, or VP rollups.
Connect in Antenna
- Navigate to Settings > Sources > Add source in your app.antenna.dev account.
- Click Connect next to Microsoft 365 Copilot.
- Review the permissions listed, then click Grant Admin Consent. Antenna redirects you to Microsoft.
- Sign in as a Microsoft Entra administrator and accept the consent prompt. Microsoft returns you to Antenna, and the source is connected.
Antenna requests two read-only Microsoft Graph application permissions:
| Permission | Why it’s needed |
|---|---|
Reports.Read.All | Reads the Microsoft 365 Copilot usage report. |
ReportSettings.Read.All | Checks whether user names are concealed, so Antenna can tell you when usage can’t be attributed to people. |
If you sign in with a non-administrator account, Microsoft shows Need admin approval and does not return you to Antenna. Choose Sign in with that account there to continue with an administrator account.
Revoking access
Deleting the source in Antenna stops all data collection. Because the consent was granted in your own tenant, revoking the consent itself is done in Microsoft Entra: go to Enterprise applications, select the Antenna application, and delete it.
Data collected
Antenna collects per-user adoption and engagement metrics from the v2 Copilot usage report:
| Metric | Description |
|---|---|
| Active usage days | Days in the period on which the user used Copilot. |
| Total prompts | Prompts the user sent across all Copilot experiences. |
| Copilot Chat prompts | Prompts sent in Copilot Chat, split into work and web. |
| Last activity date | The user’s most recent Copilot activity, overall and per Microsoft 365 app. |
Antenna does not collect prompts, responses, documents, or any content of user interactions.
Microsoft publishes this report as a rolling 7-day snapshot with a lag of roughly 48 hours, so usage appears about two days after it happens. Antenna stores each snapshot as a point-in-time reading rather than a daily event stream, and never adds overlapping snapshots together.
Cost
Microsoft does not expose your negotiated Copilot seat price through any API, so cost cannot be fetched automatically. To report spend and cost per active user, set a seat price in Antenna: go to AI Budgets > Configure Budgets and set Avg seat cost for Microsoft 365 Copilot in Tool Defaults.
What’s not included
- Unlicensed Copilot Chat usage. The report covers licensed Copilot users only.
- Power BI and Microsoft Fabric Copilot. Reported separately by Microsoft and billed against Fabric capacity, not Copilot seats.
- Copilot Studio agents. Billed in Copilot Credits and reported in the Power Platform admin center. The usage report includes a per-user date of last agent activity, but no per-agent usage.
Privacy and security
- Access is read-only. The two permissions Antenna requests read usage reports and the report settings; neither can modify anything in your tenant.
- Antenna reads usage metadata only — counts, dates, and app names. No prompt content, responses, or document content is read or stored.
- User principal names and display names are used to match usage to people in Antenna and are not stored in the data warehouse. Analytics are keyed to the contributor record instead.
- Reporting is designed for group-level rollups — team, manager, and executive views are built from your existing identity and hierarchy data in Antenna, not from Microsoft Graph. Antenna does not request directory read permissions.
