Active Engineers

DEFINITION

Active engineers measures the number of engineers actively contributing to the codebase. It helps you understand changes to productivity and efficiency as your engineering team scales.

HOW IT’S MEASURED

Active engineers is measured as the number of engineers who have contributed or reviewed code in the last 30 days. It excludes bots.

You can validate active engineers in the Active Engineers chart on the Company page. Hover over a specific time period and select View engineers to see a list of contributors.

PROTECTING DEVELOPER PRIVACY

We believe in developer privacy, productivity, and happiness above all. To protect against micromanagement and potential misuse, we’ll never show an individual developer’s data without their consent. Active engineer count is used to ensure individual data isn’t accessible when filtering data down to specific groups. A group must contain at least three active engineers to show data.
